Owling Field Trip, Elk
Saturday, March 15, 2025
6:45PM-9:30PM
Trip Leaders: Tim Bray and Mike Stephens
Description: For this year’s owl safari, we will carpool and head up Greenwood ridge, returning around 9.30 pm. The variety of habitats along Philo-Greenwood Road hold several species of owls, and in March they can be quite vocal. Carpooling is necessary for this trip because the turnouts on the road are small and only a few cars will fit.
Accessibility: This trip will mostly consist of birding along the road and can be done from in your car, although most participants will park and get out along the unpaved shoulder at each stop.
Directions: Meet in Elk at the Greenwood State Beach parking lot, directly across the highway from the Elk store.
Trip will be canceled in the event of rain.
