South Coast Raptor Field Trip
Saturday, November 16 from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Description: Bring a lunch and join us for our annual safari down the coast! At this time of year large numbers of raptors hunt the fields of the “south coast” between Elk and Point Arena, so we will be on the lookout for hawks (including Ferruginous and Rough-Legged Hawks), falcons, eagles, Osprey, and whatever else we can find.
This is an all-day trip. Bring a picnic lunch and something to drink. Be prepared to carpool so there is room for everyone to stop at pullouts along the highway. Extra binoculars will be available to borrow if you do not have a pair.
Trip Leader: Tim Bray
Accessibility: Not ADA accessible, although it is possible to bird some sites from your vehicle.
Directions: We will meet at 9:00 AM just south of the Navarro River bridge on Highway 1 between Albion and Elk. There is a small parking area on Navarro Beach road just south of the bridge.
Trip will be canceled in the event of heavy rain.
